Yesterday we stopped our car to allow our grand daughters to watch a mature cottontail in a green space. Soon four crows flew from a tree and attempted to catch the rabbit, who quickly ran to a large shrub to escape.

Would those crows have eaten that rabbit had they caught it?

Heck yeah they would eat it!

My brother and I once watched a starling chase a crow high in the air. The crow suddenly tilted sideways and caught the starling in its claws and kept on flying with it. My brother and I were both stunned because we never viewed the crow as a predator.

Crows rank right up there with hawks. Whats worse is the fact they have a “season” for them here in Georgia...not that many pay attention to it. Seen them chase a coon and are serious nest predators as well, whether it’s quail, duck, or turkeys.

There is a reason that the name for a flock that f crows is a murder, seen quite a few times when a flock has taken on and killed animals you would not expect them to be able to and then feasted on it, sad thing is that if you showed most people it they would tell you that they were just scavenging and that something else killed it because crows are just scavengers and not predators

Just like the idiots that tell you only man kills for sport and even when shown proof they insist it’s not so

I've seen a crow grab a sparrow just out of the nest and fly away with it. I've also seen a single crow chase down and nearly peck a cottontail to death on the road. I ended up finishing off the cottontail as a mercy killing.

Crows are not nice birds. I';ve seen them chase eagles.

I was sitting in traffic in my phone company van next to a vacant lot and saw a flock of crows attack and kill a young rabbit. I have also seen them destroy eggs in a goose nest.

My dad used to tell that back in the 30's and 40's they had crows by the thousands that would roost in one certain place near here. They would dynamite buckets of gravel at the roost. He said if they still had corn in the field when the first snow came they would strip it of every grain.
We have a season on them in Illinois.

I watched a raven kill a sharptailed grouse.

Crows are the National Bird of Mexico, and they are classified as a migratory game bird with seasons and limits.

As a kid in the 70's crows did significant damage to corn and other crops around here. We still have crows but back then, there were flocks (murders?) of thousands of them. We kept a 20ga in my dad's truck just to keep the crows out of his corn. If you shot one, it didn't do much. If you winged one and it called to the others, a black cloud of birds would rise in the air and fly away.

Check out natureismetal @ Instagram. There are some interesting pictures of how unforgiving the animal kingdom is. I wish all antis would view this page daily so they have a true understating of how the animal kingdom really works.
