white lettering , the word BY gets lost int he dark against that tree branch.

white lettering on a black and white photo just looks right to me white is what you would get if you didn't expose the photo like if you put a type set on glass over your photo paper at exposure

I like the white letters. Maybe you could put by Charles L. Dobbins in the water on the bottom of photo so it doesn't get lost in trees no matter what color you decide on.

I would suggest doing the book title in light letters and your father's name in dark letters. I think it would look best and be easiest to read that way.

Dark letters. When does the book hit the streets? I thought I had the complete set of Charles Dobbins books so now I need another one, lol.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Paul, please keep the white type you initially had. Put a slightly darker shadow behind it to make it pop. Move your dad's name to the lower right quadrant of the page in the darker creek water below and right of his feet. Put another subtle, but darker shadow behind it, so it too, will read. I would stack the type as well. This way you can make the type of your dad's name larger as it deserves to be.

Just my two cents from a degree in typography and page design......😎

Paul, on the last cover, it is much easier to read your father's name.

I think it really depends on what you are after. As said here:

The dark print draws you and then you see your dad second.

The white print is less aggressive and you see your dad first.

I prefer the white.
