Wife caught a 22lb flathead today now the instructions will flow freely in my direction! LOL Happy for her it's the biggest fish she has ever caught.

It's true. Your wife will probably never stop regaling you with tales of how she caught that catfish, everytime catfishing is brought up.

Years ago, Diane, I and our friend James were fishing our friend Jeff's pond. We were allowed to keep catfish, but had to throw everything else back. I was catching lots of bass and sunfish on nightcrawlers, but no catfish. Diane switched to pink Berkeley Gulp worms and fairly quickly caught 3 large channel cats. From her first catfish on, she kept trying to get me to switch to the pink worms. I finally did switch and ended up catching 7 large channel cats. James switched and caught 1 large channel cat. Diane ended up with 4 for the day.

Several times a year she brings up that fishing trip and how she was right to use those pink worms.

Just thinking back to her archery days, she bought a bow and took the class then filled a buck and a doe tag the same year. LOL

She caught that in the Missouri River no limit on cats in the river she had a bucket of smaller ones for her cats said she had a hard time keeping up with the poles.

Don't feel bad, my wife's a better fisherman than me. She's got the patience of Job and it pays off

Big flat heads just are one step below or above walleye! My biggest I've ever caught was 65, but have caught lots of 45 and down to about 15. I usually turn the 15 and smaller back to let them grow up! They eat nothing like channels, much better eating. The big ones have two steaks on the head that I always trim out too. The biggest ones in late summer, after they have turned yellow, are best if tyed up in a cold spring fed stock tank before you butcher them. Can't beat them for good eating, love some smoked flathead belly meat!
