I been looking for a prices on a plastic water container for a pickup. The price they want is way more then what I am willing to pay. I call a rancher today that has about everything and asked if he had a used one he wanted to sell. He said, he didn't but had a few of these 275 gal aluminum framed totes and said I could just have one.
I went and picked it up this morning and he still insisted he didn't want anything for one but I paid him 25 dollars and he finally took it. I can say they are a sweet unit for hauling water. It has the 2 inch hole plus an adapter for a garden hose hookup also. I was a happy camper.
Anyone else use them for hauling water? I think it was 330 that made a water trough out of one that he had pictured here before. The can be very pricey if buying them outright.

I would be concerned with what originally came in that tote. The last ranch I worked for I would go pick those up and the chemicals in them were not friendly. They sprayed the alfalfa with the contents to kill the cutworms.

Got one raised up on cribbing. Use it for drip irrigation in my garden.

Cathouse Jim This one had molasses and says food grade tote, he has been using them for remote areas for live stock. I wouldn't want one that had chemical of any sort.

Good deal snowy, nothing better than molasses! I always worry when I see so many of them being used to haul water as my only exposure to them has been nasty chemicals.

^ ya, there are 100s around here, that have had chemical. That was why I didn't think I would find one that didn't.

^ wow! I was just lucky to find a good condition and no chemical tote, so I was very happy with that. The plastic water tanks that you can but are very expensive.

Ive never seen one id use to water animals or garden or home place here. They have all been full of 2-4d, or roundup, or worse, it seems.

I work at a chemical plant and deal with hundreds of them each week. You wouldn't want the ones I have access to!

We got one that we use for hauling water. The neighbor sell them along the road. There's a place in Greeneville,Ohio that sells apple cider vinegar by the tote.

Yup. Yeah you were. I say you got a great deal. The downside with the totes or barrels at that surplus store is not knowing what was stored in them. I don't recall if they had labels on them or not, as it's been awhile since I've been there. It's a store you can spend hours in because they have a huge assortment of items including the kitchen sink.

^ well, feed grade or food grade sure would be the safest bet for sure. I wouldn't want one that chemical was stored in them.
