Closer to the opposite around here.
Oct-June, see deer daily from house
July-Sept see deer about every week or two only.

As far as Acorns go, the deer around here seem to only pay attention to them for a short period of time.
Deer do their most damage in late winter/early spring before everything greens up real well.
