More likely than not they filtered revenue through partner companies to take advantage of tax breaks. Making a successful company look like it's losing money to reap the benefits of government handouts.

Not quite accurate. These are actual GAAP ( generally accepted accounting principles) numbers that will be included in P&G tax forms next year. P&G, the owner of Gillette, wrote down (took an expense charge) of 8 billion in "good will" on their Gillette holdings. P&G reported an ACTUAL loss of 5.49 billion for the quarter. So...... P&G had roughly a gain of 2 billion from all other sectors of their businesses and wrote off the 8 billion from Gillette to show a REAL loss of 5.49 billion for the quarter. You can't just say......"Oh we thought we would earn 5 billion this quarter but we only earned 4..........so we have a 1 billion dollar loss" . That won't fly with any body. Especially the IRS Mean As Nails
