It comes with age. Had a bout with it a few weeks ago. I'd stand up and feel like I was falling to the left.

Can also be caused by a reaction to an antibiotic.

I get it and take medication for it and I'm good for awhile. It's caused by a in balance of fluid in your ears. It's not fun to get. Can make some people sick.

Inner ear imbalance, mine has been lifelong ...I use equate motion sickness tablet and some rest .
At any time I cannot lean or lay to the left or it brings it on.

I’ve had periodic bouts ( maybe once a year ) since 2006. Laying flat on my back under a vehicle is a sure way for me to trigger it. I have had attacks that were so bad I couldn’t even open my eyes.

Mine was caused by an Acoustical Neroma(?). This was a tumor on my acoustical nerve. Hit all at once and was sicker than a dog. Went two weeks and had another episode. Had a "gamma knife" procedure done. Bombarded the tumor with gamma radiation to kill the tumor. This was seven years ago and have been fine ever since.

A co-worker has what he calls nightime vertigo and I'd never heard of such a thing in that it's so bad at night. I feel bad for him as it can really be debiltating for him at night.

As for the regular vertigo...some relatives have had it and say the physical therapist really helped them.

It is no joke.
I got mine back in 2007, tied in with heat exhaustion and dehydration.
Lost all my fluids when it hit me - meaning I sweated everything out - soaked 3 couch cushions.

Was never so scared in all my life.
Everything spinning out of control if my eyes were open, but I was fine with them closed.

Extreme nausia too... real bad.

Had to get to the hospital - lucky for me - I was still in the all volunteer fire dept out here, so everyone showed up.
A captain of my former company showed up, and he said he never seen anything like it - the way my eyes were ping ponging back and forth..........

About 5 - 6 hours later, they were finally able to establish an IV through the back of my hand.
All my veins completely collapsed.

I did get sent home later at night, saw an ear nose and throat specialist a day or two later.
I still don't know what triggered it - I believe he felt I had some kind of inner ear infection or something but I know this I never want to ever experience anything like that ever again.

I was out of work for two, although my mother claims three weeks.
I walked like a drunk for a long time - six months maybe ??

Only time I felt ok was when out kayaking.

Oddly enough, it is very common in these parts.

I knew a woman who got it real bad, she never came back to the plant - she got a disability thing out of it - but what a price to pay frown frown frown

I believe mine was also caused by stress.

Thank God I've only had a couple of sensations but I popped the sea sick pills and I'd be then ok.
Thank God, I have not had to do that in a few years now.

It is something that truly scares me.

If you are suffering with this condition, my heart really goes out to you.

Have had it off and on for the last 20 years or so. Started out in my teens and would only happen briefly a couple times per year. Now when it hits me its off and on for days sometimes weeks. Usually manageable but have days that I cant stand and all i can do is sleep. Doc prescribed something for motion sickness last bad spell and it helped tremendously.

For some reason I have lots of ear wax. Hydrogen peroxide in each ear a couple times a month helps me a bunch. I have my wife put it in while I lay on my side. I stay that way till I don't hear it fizz anymore. roll over on a towel and do the other side.

I have it. 1st time. I spent 5 hours in each of two different ERs. They did 2 CT scans and an MRI to check for stroke. No stroke. The meds they gave me are helping.
It was coming on slowly until the freight train effect hit me. I couldn't move for fear of falling . I was extremely dizzy and wanted to vomit.I have no hearing with my left ear which was my reason for going to the clinic where this worst part all began. .
Thanks for the info guys.
just
BTW its really a challenge to type on a keyboard that's constantly moving.

Had it once. Googled the exercises you can do at home. Did em….disappeared in 24 hrs and hasn't returned.

My Dad (80) got it last year. Did the exercises and went away also. Start with the dumb exercises first. Sometimes that's all that's needed. As stated, meds are the next step.

I've had it a couple times from ear stones floating out of place in the inner ear. Epley maneuver over the kitchen counter fixed it right up. Have needed a tune up now and again.

I hear some people get it if they look down from a high height.

That's exactly what I do. Just got over a bout with it.
