All in all in was a good convention. Top Lots electric “device “ was good for some laughs.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Well it was dang near in Iowa this year keeps a lot of folks from attending. At least the heat wasn't to bad for those that attended! There were several of us from dang near the Canadian border that made it. Rally didn't do any conventions last and none this year I'm aware of. He's been busy doing beaver control work a

This was my first one and had a good time. Spent too much and sold too little but overall would do it again in a heartbeat! Really enjoyed the demonstrations and the instructors. All of the instructors where top notch but for me Level Reuwsaat rocked as he was kind enough to work with me and really simplified things. Now I can't wait for the season to begin so I can put what I've learned to practice! Thanks Lesel!!

For those who were unable to attend...........
160user put on a canine demo late Saturday night. I'm not sure how educational it was. I believe it was some sort of distraction technique used for releasing canines. Dead coyote even tried it and got it right on the first time.
Maybe he will do a day time demo next year. It must not have been too bad because I heard you tried it on a feline already.

The people that weren’t laughing probably needed the device.

Convention report... I left home around 8:00 to pick up Mike Swanson in Funkley, and we made Redwood Falls sometime in the afternoon on Thursday , the first day of the convention, but near the end of the day. My camp, "Camp Huerd" was the official designated spot for the 4th annual Commercial Trappers of Minnesota (CTM) fish fry, that we have somewhere at every MTA rondy lately. Lots of visiting and gawking went on as Swannie and I erected the awe inspiring tent that I use, and not just a little commentation about the AC unit and it's hose that stuck out the chimney hole in the tent.
I think our little group BSed until midnight or so in the 80 degree heat.
Friday was a blur for me, and as I can barely set through a demo, I spent the day practicing my Beautiful Sayings and other PR skills all about the rondy. I mainly talked all day and starved myself until the Friday evening fish fry. I took no pictures.
At the fish Fry.
Lee showed up with some wine samples, Mike Kelly cooked up crawdads, Steven 49er fried up fish and shrimp, and about 40 some odd people showed up for the meal. We had somewhat of a meal roster before we started so as to properly figure the logistics of an undertaking like this. I brought fresh Bread and Butter refrigerator pickles, of the slightly hot variety. All the food was great.
49er brought the sauerkraut . Home made.
I did have a little speaking engagement, where I did about 4 minutes for , and during Craig Hilburns beaver systems demo, where I showcased the way my traps can be quickly deployed and undeployed to any drowning setup and separated so as to keep order in the truck.
We left on Saturday, during the trap setting contest, but not until I watched Dean Bartz smoke everyone in the 330 setting contest, which gives me some new ideas...I better eat my Wheaties though, lol.
As you can see, I am not a demo watcher or reporter, I just go to have a good time and visit, and pick up a few supplies. There were lots of top notch trappers in attendance.
I did pick up another fleshing knife from Lee, the 10 inch parallel knife and I'm looking forward to using it. I also bought 21 BMI 220s, probably right before they become illegal here.
The end
Leslie
