Cleans rust and leaves protected coating on steel.
Never use it on stretchers but I did on lots of car parts and they sat in the garage bare steel never rusted. Thanks

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

I wouldnt want rust wire stretchers to stretch pelts, the rust well possibly damage pelts, I have read that in later stages processing, that fall apart on rust line or slip or other damage. I used to shine mine up with lite steel wool in summer. Never took galvanizing off , i don't use wire much anymore an they just hang, I use all boards, if real rusty, i would throw away

Groenewald told me to use wire instead of wood. They didn't specify why.

I cleaned several rusty strechers by wrapping them in a vinegar soaked towel and put them in a plastic bag. It took awhile but it did the job. To keep them from rusting again I waxed them with floor wax. good luck

I waxed some wire stretchers. Never again, on rat stretchers. I use cloths pins to hold hooks down tight , like 3 above each hook, the wax was put on quite few years back
