Do many of you add dye to your mix so you can see what you've sprayed? I see Menards sells such a product.

I was working for an ag business, spraying and fertilizer on crop fields and used the marking die that we put in the foam tank. Used a small 2 gal sprayer with stump killer. Small amount goes a long way and I don't use anything else in it. Not sure what Menards sells,

I use blue colorant when I spray broadleaf control on my yard so as to not overlap. I use an ounce per gallon. In a backback sprayer make sure the lid is on good before putting sprayer on.

It's blue, & 1 oz per gallon is what the container recommends.

I think your talking large acreage farms, but I do that when clearing brush like Bush Honeysuckle. Really helps. Cheap dollar store food color.

I think oil based herbicides require a different kind of dye

I tried the blue dye but found it nearly impossible to see the difference on green plants and I’m not colorblind. I ended up using a 12v air pump and a small gas can with the old style spout. Put a tire air valve in the bottom of the gas can, fill half with water, add a little squirt of foam and I zip tied a clear vinyl hose to the end of my sprayer. Apply 12v to air pump and it will produce foam balls that are about twice the size of a golf ball.

I use a dye that has a foaming agent in it especially when doing a treatment on a freshly cut stump.

I find you use less herbicide and it stays put more than just a dye and herbicide.

There is a applicator that you can buy that works well with the foaming agent.

That's interesting. I recently attended an invasive seminar where they talked extensively about dyes. No one mentioned anything about foaming

here is what the foaming agent plus dye looks like on burdock.

This for a foliar application so the amount of glyphosate in the mix is lower.
Don't need to cover the whole leaf or all the leaves, in fact this is probably too much used as is.
Since this picture I have been just cutting the plants at the ground and putting just a dab on the stump, it works better, takes less time, less herbicide and zero collateral damage.

You can see obviously see the advantage to using the foam over just spraying as would normally would be done.
