Several years ago we paid a trespass fee to hunt antelope in WY area 23. The contact that I had from back then is not available any longer and the game department is not keeping a land owner list like they used to. I tried some blind calling of landowners in the area but have not gotten any return phone calls.

I was focused on area 23 and the over the counter "private land only" tags since access wasn't an issue several years ago. We're primarily interested in taking a few does and time frame isn't set.

Is there still an issue with overly high antelope populations in that area? Are landowners still interested in having some does removed from their land?
Looking out to 2020, should I give up on area 23 and pick another draw only area?

It's reached the tipping point where there are more hunters than tags.

Wyoming doe/fawn tags basically sold out on the first draw this year.

So you either try to draw a tag for public ground, or develop a plan for gaining access on private.

That's your two basic choices at this time.

Getting a tag will only get more difficult from this point forward.

Don’t know about 23 but 25 is usually undersubscribed, several state trust sections and a large blm/oilfield with access. Couple of friends and I took five out of there when I first moved here and wasn’t eligible for the drawing,
Wyoming gazetteer and atlas is very useful. Pm Handytrapper he has much more current info on that area of the state.
