I didn't start to around 1970. Rats where .55 cents. Good money for a 10 year old boy back then.

I only have 1958-59 season. [Linked Image]

Multiply the prices by 8.66 to get todays value of those prices.

Great info. I remember rats in the late 50’s. .25, .50, and .75 all on size.

The average over the years is probably $0, with all the ups and downs

BoCo that's worth hanging on to, a picture is worth a thousand words. I could get interested in trapping mink for around $80 a piece.

From Statscan, 1970 numbers in Canadian dollars. They have all the numbers from 1970-2012 but a pain to extract the information.

Looks like things don't change much given inflation

I can remember 1963 … all I had been using for rats were, 0s, 1s, and 1.5 long springs. I became aware of 110 conibears, and went to a local fur buyer to see if he might have some. He did and told me he would trade me even for No.1 rats, fresh caught that day, one 110, for each rat. He told me the value was $1.50 each … I traded him a dozen rats for a dozen 110s. I think the years before I was getting 95 cents each, finished.

beaver prices

In that above link regarding how pitiful trapping is in Canada is a chart of historic beaver prices in Quebec. Adjusted for inflation too.
