Them Arkansas hogs must cant climb. These pineywoods rooters down here will climb out of a trap without a top.

They might that's why I am asking. Lol the panels are 60" tall should I go higher near the door? I have been told that I need to add post on both sides so I will do that. I will also make my root stick shorter and place a larger bait pile off to the side. Anything else??

Hogs in some areas dont climb...others areas they do. Probably depends on amount of trapping pressure and wildness of the hogs. It will be difficult to put a wire top on large pen type traps. Many around here use traps that look like large walk-in traps. But, keep in mind that deer and bears cant escape either.

I don't know of any real trapping effort in this area. Other than "farmer john" attempting to use the large box traps and they are not successful

Cellular gates are way more efficient and have less refusals

Had 3 large wet sows and 13 piglets in th trap at the same time last night 1 dry sow and 1 boar showed up latter.....sooo at least I have them coming in know.

You need to have you a holding pen at the rear of the trap, so you can hold the ones you catch in it . That makes the next batch easier to catch the next night when they come up and see there running mates in the back.

I have been using a heart trap and it works really well. I also have a 10x10 portable trap that does good work. I don’t use a root trigger but fishing line. Has stretch and allow the hits to really get in trap before triggering it

Well I armed my trap for the first time tonight.....success. 13 caught. Very happy with that. thanks for all the input
