The Queen Of The Mississippi that is. Was at an early am Doc appointment. When got out of there I took a drive threw the park by the river like I do often. It charges my batteries.. What do I see parked across the river at the levy near down town... One of the big boats. Get the field glasses out take a look and it is the Queen.. I'm not even sure if I've seen this one for a while? Not as big as the America's Queen. But certainly not small. [Linked Image]

Got to other end of the park see the local tour boat (LaCrosse Queen) headed up river.. No where near as big as the Queen of the Mississippi..
Pic give you good idea of size differance.

Mac- Give me a little time and I'd have that boat all grassed in and it would be a proper duck boat. grin

I saw the boat in St. Louis when I was a kid in the 60's. Impressive to say the least.

The dog would have one heckuva water entry leaping in for a bull sprig of that thing!

I've often thought it would be nice to retire back to my river and live on a boat. If money were no object I think a side wheeler packet boat of about 50' length would make a nice house boat.

That is a heck of a boat! Just guessing by looking at the picture, 275 feet long?
I assume not powered by steam?
Moosey, by the time ya got that baby grassed in there would be ice on the water.
