how do you make cobbler

Looks mighty fine John. That is some good eating right there. I have been wanting to make some Peach jam but couldn't find any local that were reasonably priced. A buddy has a tree but it only seems to produce every other year. It didn't get fruit this year.

Did you get them local. I would like to get a bushel or so if I can find them close.

Did you drive to new Paris, or buy them up at springs? Any Chambersburg peaches available at spring's, if that is where you went.

I drove up to New Paris, we'll worth the trip $10 bucks a half bushel for the yellow peaches $14 bucks half bushel for the white peaches and $ 30 bucks half bushel for the donut peaches. The sweet corn is awesome there too 4 bucks a dozen.

This thread reminds me of my grandma and the cobblers she used to make... Sure do miss her.

Grandparents had dairy cows and chickens, grandmother always had angelfood cake or something else that used up eggs. Everything from scratch, no written recipes, just an old gas stove/oven with no real heat control but experience. Both of them born before 1900, amazing the things they would have seen in their lifetime.

I get Sunhigh peaches from the local orchard, slice them (skin on) and freeze them on cookie sheets. After the slices are frozen I vacuum-seal them in small bags.. They are way too juicy to vacuum-seal when they are not frozen.

I do enough to add them to oatmeal or have them for dessert all winter long.

I do know that there are some pretty good size orchards around Dillsburg, PA.

Peter's orchard is pretty massive in my mind.

Which the rhubarb or the freezing? lol

A couple cups of blackberries thrown in with the peaches in the cobbler is a nice change up for me after I have had 7 or 8 regular peach cobblers. Vanilla ice cream is still good with it even with the black berries. I will try the blue berries on my next cobbler.
