I just got done building a carbine (my first build) from a PSA kit and an Anderson lower. I couldn't seem to stake the castle nut very well, or either I did it fine and I'm overestimating what it takes to keep the nut from turning. Anyway, I put a small dot of blue loctite on the threads in one place after I got the nut tightened down. Actually, I put the dot inside one of the little square slots where the castle nut wrench teeth go. Anybody else do this? It seems to be highly debated on the internet.....
FYI, I have been watching my ar15 for aggressive behavior since I got it together, but so far it just stands in the corner and minds it own business.

if I didn't have to pay a tax and wait a year, if I could buy one for under 20 grand, I would own an assault rifle.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

the castle nut loosens or it doesn't if it does you tighten it and stake it again. you stake the receiver end plate so that it flows just ever so slightly into the notch in the castle nut , your making it so that it shouldn't work loose but so that with a wrench you can still back the castle nut off without needing to grind the receiver end plate
not a big deal just check for play in the stock an that you can't turn the castle nut before shooting it each time for your first few range trips.even if id does loosen some your stock would have to turn to back out and it is keyed so the castle nut woul dhave to back off a few turns to really be an issue.
Danny makes the point by definition an assault rifle would be true full auto.
MSR modern sporting Rifles are simply picked on for their color and visual features
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Just my2c ok we should just call them freedom rifles then. maybe a picture of George Washington holding one and a speech bubble that says " 7 1/2 pounds with telescope , 5 inches at a 1/4 mile , fires 30 rounds with out reloading, reloads in seconds , recoil light enough for the ladies and 37 rounds to the pound . Well I think every man 16-60 should have and carry one daily with a 4 pound stock of ammunition . this rifle could be Tyranny's worst fear. the Tories will certainly try to tax and ban it" I didn't pick MSR but it is the industry term for them now.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'm overthinking this, though before I used loctite I wish I would've thought of bugger a thread as mentioned above.
The "assault rifle" term was tongue in cheek lol. I think it is a ridiculous, made up term by the media but if that's what they want to call it fine by me. I think we ought to be able to own any type of gun we want and arguing about the name is semantics. I would like the above people who do get caught up in semantics and who insist the definition of an assault rifle is that it must be fully auto to post some evidence that their definition is correct? I don't think the phrase "assault weapon" has any defined meaning at all.

I was taught assault rifle was the type of rifle used by assault teams. The rifles listed as class III by the ATF.

If I knocked over a liquor store using my Marlin single shot Tom Mix Special .22 rimfire, would that make it an assault rifle?
Zim only that specific rifle because you used it to assault the clerk because Assault is an action and not a description. hence if you use a knife it would be an assault knife , or an assault brick or and assault bat but all of them are just inert objects and you do the assault action. the term assault rifle actually comes from the German Sturmgewehr 44, "assault rifle 44" they actually named it the "assault rifle" so you can basically blame the nazis who designed modern gun control for the term used by the media also.

Let me know when they make a 30 round mag for a Rem 742? “MSR”? That’s funny right there I don’t care who you are! At least call them what they are, antigovernment overreach citizens entrenching tool. I actually agree with you and think the name freedom rifle is perfect. I know you didn’t coin the term MSR but it has always been a burr under my blanket , the .223 or any other 22 cal centerfire has only recently become legal for hunting deer and antelope and only with 60gr or more in this state. I am tired of being on defense and believe we should tell it like it is. I also believe that it should be mandatory for every law abiding head of household own and be proficient with one. George’s profile on the butstock would be a nice touch. I also believe, and here comes the tinfoil hat stuff, that there is a very real possibility that a certain percentage of the first person shooter video games are imbedded with subliminal messaging to make the player want “the real thing”. It kind of like broadcasting seeds, if only a few “grow” the goal is achieved. We are in a struggle for the very soul of this nation. When we give candidate Joe Biden the opportunity to mock us with “nobody needs a thirty round magazine to hunt deer” I think we are loosing ground. It doesn’t matter that few if any state game laws allow more than 5 round mags in the field John Q Public doesn’t know or care. Just recently my brother in law tried to jab me with “you were worried that Obama was going to confiscate your guns and Trump is the one that actually did “. When I asked him wth he was talking about, he said you know the bumpstock. When I tried to explain that a bumpstock isn’t a gun but an accessory, he refused to even listen. This is the exact type of ignorance we must overcome. Outside of calling coyotes and possibly shooting prairie dogs, cross course, service rifle and three gun competition, a bolt gun just serves my needs better. Now a firefight? Hands down I’ll take the simi and a stack of mags. Hope my previous post didn’t ruffle your hackles to much, wasn’t my intention. May the good Lord take a liken to ya.

were good
FREEDOM RIFLE it is
honestly a bolt action 308 I keep the brass with that rifle and I run a collett sizing die I can load it near as fast as pistol ammo because my brass prep is nothing.
my Semi autos need to be sized full length, trimmer and crimped primer pockets need to be reamed , then I can load it.
I have shot deer with 223 but mostly shoot targets great for service rife competitions and similar. excellent practice running timed stages.
30 round magazines should be refereed to as Tyrant size the aren't for deer , they are for tyrants , so don't be one. any arms with a purpose in keeping a free citizenry free is protected by the 2nd amendment , it isn't about hunting or target shooting or collecting. the 2nd is about all enemies foreign and domestic.
