Had a storm come through and wipe out my 60 acres. I have a considerable amount of basswood trees that most loggers don’t seem interested in which I understand.

Is there any market for basswood logs??
Talked to the local sawmill and he wasn’t interested.

Wood carvers prize it especially from your part of the country. My favorite for carving decoys. I'll ask around some of the decorative carvers that I know.

I believe it's more of a specialty market. It's a light easily worked worked so as said wood carvers prize it. It was used duck decoys for that reason. We all know the fur stretcher use. It was once commonly used in beekeeping from frames and internal parts of the hive as well as lightweight shipping crates/boxes for bees, queens, jars and sections. It is the only wood used for square section comb honey. Sadly no longer popular.

Storm was on July 19th, I know it stains quickly so i’d Like to get as much off the ground as possible.
If you know anybody in NW WI that looking let me know.
Maybe I should just bring to the sawmill and get cut into boards??
