Well there was a post on here a little while back concerning ground bee's, yellow jackets if you will.
I still get out on the ground as a land surveyor every chance I get and today was no different.
Was hacking just a little bit with a machete off the corner of a corn field to set a property corner when suddenly
things got exiting. I got stung about 30 times in the time it takes to type this. I never was a track star but between
bee's, cattle and irate property owners I have been known to set some land speed records.
Had to come home and rest after that today, dam near made me go to a hospital.
I have a plan for them guys very early tomorrow morning, although it will be 26 miles out of my way to work...…
It involves a pint of 90 octane gas , a match and raucous laughter.

They’re nasty, where I work they had two nest, we tried cobalt straight down the hole didnt kill them finally had to take brake cleaner to them. The match that was dropped down the hole afterwards may have helped. grin

I feel your pain, I own a tree service and climb daily. Last year in August I went up a oak tree and topped it and repelled down right on top of a hornets nest, and since I was still roped off to the tree they got me 42 times. I was on a mission the next morning and they got the worst end of the deal. Lol. Revenge is sweet

It's that time of year. I rolled over a tarp to have a yellow jacket nest come at me. Thankfully they only got me once, past the glove on my wrist. I was backpedaling to make a land speed record. Smothered them with a backhoe bucket of cinders.

Well I'll tell ya, a 64 year old man can still run a pretty quick 40, and I mean 40 acres when he steps on a yellow jacket nest.

One time I was cutting brush around my bow blind with one of those folding saws and I ran into a nest of them. As they were biting, I was swatting my arm with the blade of the saw. Saw did more damage than the bees.

Prayers sent.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Wow Zim, youre one tough cookie.

That many stings would have had me in ER.

I watch for them like a hawk when Im in the bush, especially on a horse.

Glad you are ok.

They chase honey bees too.

Kill em all........

Lighting the gas may only top kill and leave most of the underground nest not burned..as the fire burns off the fuel.

Dont set the woods on fire.

I hate yellowjackets!!!!

The last time I got nailed by them, I was 2 miles from my truck, digging ginseng. When they are fired up, they are like mini fighter jets, with bayonets! Glad you’re ok Zim.

Left eye swollen shut this morning, left ear is on fire, wrists and hands swollen and stiff. Going to miss a day of work for the first time in 35 years.
Going to have to wait another day to exact my revenge on those guys.

Yeah, I've gotten the same program several times cutting firewood. Both times I was focused on cutting with my chainsaw and suddenly felt the initial stings. At first it almost felt like a burn, then realized what was happening, then dropped the saw and ran.
A good "dab" of chainsaw gas and a match took care of them. Darn good thing I'm not allergic to bee stings as some folks are.

At night, put the gas/diesel fuel on a rag and put it in/over the hole. It will get them all.
