If kids can grow up in a culture of hunting, it doesn't matter if they youth hunt or not. My nephews did youth hunt, but don't or cant hunt today. Not my fault.

These state or local off the wall antics may all go away if the federal government could get past politics and work on some sensible and reasonable firearm related issues and concerns. As a gun owner, hunter etc. I would hope that we could find some realistic solutions near term as with the population growing rapidly and in the urban areas with fewer rural citizens, hunters etc. the prognosis for the future looks dimmer than today.

If this continues, there won't be much left to hunt.......... or the fact that we are overwhelmed with bears, I saw one in brainerd a block off the main drag at 9am today.

From an ecology perspective you won't have a lot of predators if you don't have prey species to supply food. High predator numbers indicate high prey numbers as well. What we are seeing however is a shift to species that can adjust well to human habitat changes and a very diverse food and habitat base.

Bears are omnivores. They can exist forever at high numbers with low prey densities.

You were supposed to manipulate him. It is your fault. In the old days kids just took up hunting like we took up kick the can or a back lot ball game. The parents just encouraged us by yelling at us to" get out of the house !"or "go outside and play!". Apparently children need more focused encouragement these days?

Makes sense for....
Bobcats and rabbits
Grouse and Aspen trees
Deer and corn fields

The wolves have eaten everything. Local farms that had 20 plus deer a night on the fields have 0 now. Hunters that got to choose the deer they took now are lucky to see a deer.

I don't know what they need. Those kids are gamers. You couldn't hardly get them to enjoy the outside.

The fact that the wolves stay when their natural prey is gone indicated how much man has manipulated the habitat, even what we call the northern portions of MN, WI and MI that seem very heavily forested have many prey species that benefit from man's activity be it row crops, grass for pasture or hay, forest management etc. Prior to settlement those areas had far fewer prey options so predators were less dense and more mobile that today.
That to me is why we should use the ecology aspects of habitat change to control predators like wolves. The wolves are in their natural range and habitat but that habitat is so changed from 200 years ago that it is irresponsible for us to not manage these species that are or were endangered or threatened. The Great lakes Region wolves will have longer and more healthy lives with fewer on the landscape and money from license sales for R & D.
The idea that if we scream loud enough and criticize ecologist and wolf advocates has been shown not to work well. We have the science and the management capabilities to change how they are managed but we need to come to some agreement on how that should be done. If we remove the couple thousand wolves we may have in WI we also need to recognize that deer populations in our northern woods will not go back to 30-40 deer per square mile any time soon.

Sure, if we harvest more wolves, people will have an opportunity to harvest more deer.
