this is just a guess but I am thinking it is a Oneida Victor Double Grip, maybe a #40. Made by the Animal Trap Company 1931 - 1939. If the pan is legible it would say Oneida Victor Double grip. This is the only trap I can find that is described like this trap looks. Hope I am right.

A expert will chime in soon.

I think backroadsarcher is correct.

Must be tricky to set. Lol

I think backroads is on to something. I can see a couple 100 dollar bills laying there...

This guy is spot on. Factory original. Three different models,

Small jump in long spring. Jump is parallel with the long spring. Pictured above.

Small jump in long spring. Jump is perpendicular with the long spring.

Small jump in larger jump. Jump is parallel with the larger trap.

These traps are very collectible. Values start at $150.00 and go up, depending on the usual factors - condition, pan readability, etc.

Is one model more desirable out of the three models described above? I’m curious what my trap might be worth. I have the double grip with the perpendicular jump, overall condition is very good (used very little or possibly not at all) and the pan is readable. Also, can anyone recommend a good trap collecting book? Thank you

There is an article in the Sept. issue of "Fur Fish and Game" magazine about this trap. It has a picture of all 3 styles.

Interesting concept. That would be a great wall hanger.

That's really cool and thanks wissmiss and backroads for the ID's. That's a unique one that I'm sure we'd all love to have.
