Peppers are ripening up. I've got some habaneros and sweet peppers that aren't ripe yet, but everything else is coming along nicely.

Carolina Reapers

I had to try a Carolina reaper. Bad idea. A thick slice about did me in. Super good flavor, and the heat doesn't kick in right away, so it's deceptive. But it builds and builds, and when you think you can't take any more, it builds some more. I'm not really sure what to use them for, they're basically just a novelty. I'll likely just dry them for now.


What does everybody else grow?

The neighbor takes the reapers drys and grinds, freezes, and uses them whole when cooking pasta and things but will remove them if other people are eating them, when its just him he cuts them up.

I grew a few habaneros, cayennes and sweet. Made a few jars of pepper and onions.

Jalapenos are as hot as I go.To me,,anything hotter than them is just HOTTER for no reason.

Upstate NY, I need something to open my sinuses. That is why I love hot peppers and hot sauce.

Jalapenos, banana and regular old greens for me. Jalapenos and banana peppers get canned in red sauce.
