they need to put those on everything the kids are watching -- they don't teach that in school anymore

I agree 100%. I think much of my early patriotism derived from watching the School House Rock cartoons. My hate of royalty and England came from them too.

Knowing now that at least 3 of my ancestors came over on the Mayflower and that at least 14 of my grandfathers fought against the British in the Revolutionary War makes the videos even more personal for me now.

Remember them well. Just listened to "The Constitution". The line of the preamble that states " secure the blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and our Posterity" makes me believe something that's considered legal is actually unconstitutional. That's a whole different subject though.

Still use them to teach the next generation! They love them as well!

Yep, back when cartoons only aired on Saturday morning. There was also a series about being active and eating right . The " I hanker for a hunk of cheese ", and " I'm a yuck, mouth cause I don't brush " and one where the mom gives the kid cookies every time he gets hurt. Sure miss those days.

Nowadays, kids don't have time to watch them for all the video games they play. I remember the school house rock skits well.

I don't recall this, however it looks very good and useful for teaching kids.
I go back to the early Captain Kangaroo, B & W television, etc.

We would find them on YouTube for the kids to watch when they were studying something in school, they found them very helpful in remembering the key points of a lesson.

Basic civics and history that the public schools don't teach anymore.

They first aired Schoolhouse Rock on January 6th, 1973. It was on Saturday mornings, between the longer cartoons.
