pc2r Yes I have been a part of that idea a time or two . Once it even worked on a guy I was hunting with.He returned to camp and said Man did you see those rubs back by the last game food road to the right? I played along until I could not keep from laughing .He said did you do that

little machette on a sumac by the road,usually when i'm getting it to dye traps.

here's another.hunted with a group of a dozen or so for years at a big camp and hunk of land in NY.would have a great get together and spring clean up the first week of turkey every year.one year one of the wealthier members thought it would be fun to mess with people and bought and released 4 emu's into the area.saw one of the tracks in the mud and told my buddy we didn't have enough gun.lots fell for it but they eventually gravitated to town,chased the cops and made trouble for a while turning the tables on the smarty as he had to worry for quite a while if they found out it was him.

I spread rumors of big bucks far away from where I hunt.

I think I will skip the emu.

My former land lord belonged to a hunting camp in upstate PA One year they took an old ratty looking mounted black bear along and put it somewhere it could be seen from the road the night before the start of bear season . It got some attention on opening morning .

So, after getting a glimpse of this buck via pic from my friend that has it on his trail cam
not as big as rumored but why not go after him like the rest in the neighborhood.
Sounds fun. Off I went last week to slip in and scout. No sign of any big tracks but some good
sign of funneling of deer which I think looks good for the rut. By that time this rumor buck
will be in a hole or shot. Maybe he will show up chasing..
set a couple trees up for my sling. Will wait until the rut.
