In the last few days I have talked to 5 farmers who own about 2500 acres combined and contiguous. In the last 35 we have had a fairly good population of yotes, NO red fox. So far this only only one farmer has heard one group of yotes howling. The other 4 zero. I don’t believe the hunting and trapping pressure has increased. Now we are seeing red fox. Where have the coyotes gone? btw Deer population seems to be getting better. Thanks

One of the big land owners here told me they haven't heard a coyote all summer, however have seen red fox. We always had both but more coyotes than reds.

Same here I let the dog out at night and seemed to hear a group most nights it's been eerie quiet most of the summer, when I hunted 50 miles South for turkey this spring they lit up every morning!

They have all migrated down to Tennessee, would be happy to ship some back up your way. We wear them out every year but they come back strong. They're about the only thing I trap hard for anymore and we shoot every one of them we come across during deer season.

Tough winter along with any disease will put the hurt on them.

Almost thinking distemper last spring coons, skunks and yotes seem to be hurting here badgers are doing fine. Whatever it was it was early not finding the remains like when it came through several years ago.

I think it has more to do with a lot of snow and cold. Tough hunting for doggies last winter.

The ebb and flow of any animal population, i guess. We have an uptick of deer here this year, they have been down in numbers from years past. Just in the ten years or so i have been trapping, i have seen years where you catch mostly greys here on my home farm, to greys and coyotes, to a year with lots of reds. I have never pwrsonally caught one with mange, but have some yotes on trailcam pics that are about bald. When theres too much of one thing, it seems ma nature does her work, jmo.

Possible that they may be just ranging somewhere else in your area? TN wildlife resources did a radio telemetry study here and determined the average range for adult yotes exceeded 8 square miles. I hunt two farms that equal 1000 acres and have seen steady increases but that's probably due to loss of habitat with new residential construction on the fringes. We have another 1500 acre lease in the boonies surrounded by timber company land and the yotes would actually seem to disappear some years but they were most likely just ranging elsewhere. Guys on other leases on the other side of the county would report increases when we weren't seeing as many.

You guys don't pay attention to the news very much.
Those coyotes are all down working in Mexico. Just trying to make a little extra kibble. Lol
They will be back by fall. Or sober, work is starting to slow down.

They have all moved to the East Coast of Virginia from my observations.
