Does ruger still make the No 1 falling block in 22-250.

I believe that they are limited production only. But only in one or two different chambering each year.

From this Gunsmiths perspective, If it HAD TO BE A Remington, I'd get an older 700 or even a 788, but I'd shoot it first if possible or get a recent target.
Being a barrel burner to start with, I go with something slower, or down load the 250.
Several are at www.gunsamerica.com where you shop nationwide.

Sadly, ruger #1's are iffy at best for accuracy, unless you hang the barrel, etc.

Go with the Savage models as they run from 360 to 1200 bucks. Remington's retool is not up to snuff. Saying that, an old 788 to knock around is a good gun, as are the 700's. I had one of those bunty 600's which was a tack driver, including the cheap Tasco 3 by 9 on it, which I could crank on all day in any direction and it would come back to zero.
Enjoy your 22 250 as you will not shoot it enough to burn the barrel out and in Virginia it will not present Western shots most people should not be taking anyway.

Oh and as you did not ask and everyone gives answers which you did not ask about, I really like the BLR in lightweight. Those Belgians have one remarkable design. The guy in the gun store could not keep his hands off of mine in he kept playing with it. Their production run is getting thin, but you still can find them.

I have had 4 or 5 remington 700s in 22-250, all older rifles and liked them all. My current one is a 722 action with a Mc millen target barrel, couldn't. Be happier with it, it is extremely. accurate. I will own that rifle untill the day i die. I have no idea how many coyotes it has taken. It realy likes 52 or 55 grain bullets.

Guessing your talking new, your best bet is to buy a 700 action and have a custom barrel put on. Depending on what the gunsmith charges you to install the barrel, you won't spend any more money than a complete gun from Remington.

Grice gun shop is just one that sells actions.

Alittle over 300 for a S.A. and Boyds sells a nice stock for 150-200, depending on style and they are nice.

I pieced one togeather this way with a Krieger barrel for a thousand bucks, not much over a standard Remington from factory.

How is the Winchester low wall compared to the ruger No 1 Traprjohn?

I bought a Savage xp hunter 22 250 a few years ago very accurate rifle right out of the box with factory fodder. I reload for it and its just a tack driver. Out of my safe of old 700's it what I take most of the time. I have set up a couple other savage axis or edge one was a 223 and the other was 243 both shot well. The 243 liked everything I fed it they had sent me 4 different brands of factory ammo and I had a few handloads of a friend. It was 3/4 -1/2 inch groups it just liked everything.

Find a 788...... look for one with the metal safety, not the plastic one. Float the barrel and bed the stock. It will drive tacks

I've had a 700 sps in 22-250 with the heavy barrell, great gun. It shoots dime sized groups regularly at 100 yds.

I forgot to mention a model 7, as a good choice, in my earlier post.
