Hey guys, I was going through some stuff in the shed yesterday, and found that 10 gallons of wax dirt I had molded. Is there any use for it or should I just toss it? I had the lids on the buckets cracked, so I can’t understand how it molded.

Just another benefit of humidity.
Clean the layer of mold off the top. Mix it up and let it dry out. It’ll be fine. I’ve had it happen before. Never a problem catching yotes.
FWIW; I don’t put lids on my buckets anymore.

I found that it helps greatly to make certain your dirt is totally dry before adding wax flake.

Also, after heating dirt+ wax, dump the mix on a tarp or in a large tub to let it totally cool. Don’t dump the hot waxed dirt directly into plastic buckets, and as other have said, don’t seal the buckets.

If you have a dry out building to store it, I like to use clean feed sacks over plastic buckets.

My molded this year to. Normally I make wax dirt and let air out for a day but this year I put it in totes couple hours after I made it. I’m going to remove top layer and spread rest on tarps for a couple days and hopefully all will be good.

Moisture of some kind but I always wonder when someone posts this type of thing. Coyotes encounter mold constantly on a daily basis in one form or another. If the dirt was still repelling water I'd run it. Who cares.
