LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A cook at a Los Angeles-area hotel was arrested after he allegedly threatened a mass shooting and stockpiled guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition at his home, police said Wednesday.

Rodolfo Montoya, 37, was taken into custody Tuesday at his Huntington Beach home, police said.

Montoya was upset over a work-related human resources issue when he told a co-worker at the Long Beach Marriott on Monday that "he was going to shoot up fellow employees and people coming into the hotel," Police Chief Robert Luna said.

That is a tough one. Seen it for real not with guns but just every day work place crap.. turns into the he said she said type thing someone trying to mess with someone else... Can't imagine how that would turn out no days if you'd trow guns in the mix..Lot of times it's people just can't keep their nose in their own business..

That is an all too true fear. Another issue where one will be expected to prove himself innocent instead of having to be proven guilty.

it is getting to the point where a person considers wearing a voice recorder any time they are out of the house.

maybe not so funny thing is i know a former cop from a big city , he talks like the city and so much Bravado , he is going to kick everyone's butt ect.. then he takes another drag off his smoke and calms down and you realize it's talk.

All amendments come with restrictions such as yelling fire in a theater full of people who are also witnesses to you yelling fire. The only way I see that this guy was arrested is when the cops went to ask him about it, he confessed to saying he was gonna go all Rambo. You can't say things like that and expect there will be no repercussions. If he said he didn't say it then it's his word against anothers and he shouldn't have been arrested imo.

I agree catch 22. Why i said i wish for more detail. I assume that if he had confessed it would have said so. Maybe others heard him say it or maybe he is going through the wringer for being a gun owner

I hope so too. Maybe the line that says, " had clear plans" means they have more than they're saying on him.

Montoya may well have just been imitating Tony Montana and said something like, "Say hello to my little friend." followed by machine gun noises. Schoolchildren have now been suspended for just pointing their fingers and saying bang. Red Flag Laws will make things much worse for lawful gun owners.

Example last week was the 5th year anniversary of the Michael Brown shooting the MSM reported this:

"Michael Brown a unarmed Black man was shot by a White Police Officer!" That might be true but it's not the whole truth!

How many people are guily of having a stash of guns and ammo. I would guess over half the people on here have lots of ammo and guns. And if the law showed up at your place what would you tell them Im a avid hunter and target shooter? Pretty good chance were going down town for questioning.

this is exactly why red flag laws are bad news! all it will take to get your door kicked in at 4 am by over zealous cops wanting to be dirty harry's is an angry/jealous co worker, ex girlfriend, neighbor etc.. and im not cop bashing by any means, my father and grandfather were both LE ,you are not innocent until proven guilty you are guilty and have to try to prove your innocent, no due process and your guns are taken,period. everybody's gonna want to be the hero now who saved the world and reported something.
