Old muscle cahs are cool regardless of make. I had a '63 1/2 Ford 427 4 speed that I wish I still had. You don't see many of these any more:

And this is what I drive now: This is the view that Nessmuck would get:

I really like GTO's don't get me wrong....just thought I would show some other species. I have had a kid get out of his mother's car, walk back into the restaurant where I was sitting and tell me how much he liked my car. Good to see kids are still interested in them. By the way, the Mustang is faster than the 427.

Had a 67 GTO as well plumb with white vinyl top. Ex wife got it in divorce. Thing would pass anything on the road except a gas station. Had the 400 with 4 speed and 5:13 gears when I got it. Got the bright idea to put headers on it along with brushed aluminum side pipes. No idea how many times burnt my leg on those and oil changes sucked. Also cooked starters.

Today is the muscle car era.....How is 50+ year old technology going to keep up with the new stuff ? I can’t even beat a new Honda Accord ....but I sound way better....and look a whole lot better too.....and there is nothing like driving an old muscle car. My friends have the 700 hp Hel Cat....The 550 hp Mustangs...Those cars do nothing for me....and I don’t even notice them on the roads...they just blend in with the rest of the traffic...

Agree on can't beat em but still sound and look better. All the new ones don't have the character the old iron has. Like my old 77 Shovelhead the old ones will only keep getting worth more while the new will depreciate.

I understand what you are saying Nessy. My first pickup was a 48 International KB1 with a flat head straight 6, less than a hundred horsepower for sure.
My current Ram is a half ton also, but it has 395 horsepower and an eight speed auto tranny.
It gets better mileage than the International ever did. LOL Around 20 mpg if I keep my foot off it.

I had a new 67 Camaro, 396/375hp/4sp/410 positrac rear. The extra 50 hp was an added $500. to the cost of the car. It was butternut yellow. It was too much car for such a young fella as me - lol. I was 18 when I bought it. My immaturity with it got me two tickets, and then I went into the AF.

Then not long after Rhonda and I were married we got a 1964 corvette. It was a little 327/250hp/automatic turboglide, but it was a lot of fun. It looked a lot like this.

Boss, that camaro has the rare L78 375 hp 396 , only 1138 out of 220,000 camaros were made in 67 with that option. That car is worth a ton today

I wish I still had it, but I had to sell it before going into the AF in June 1968. Payments were only $96 a month, but as an Airman, I was making less than $100. a month.

I never cared for the GTO, nice looking car though, I had a 66 Chevelle SS ragtop with 4 speed. Never raced a goat with it, but it would go too fast. I had it up to 125 a couple of times, it had more I didn't. I like all the old 60 cars, you could tell one from the other, not like now.
