Glad the guy lost to Reagan in 1980. He and his brother have been buying political influence ever since. Lot of the present cabinet positions are filled by very close friends of the koch bros.

Now the Democrats have to hate his surviving brother twice as much.
Boy that’s the truth! Just was reading an article about what they were saying. I can’t imagine waking up everyday full of that much hate. Beth Midler made some really disturbing comments about him and his death. As a farmer I’ve cussed him a time or two when it seemed like his company was manipulating nitrogen prices, but I’ve always respected him and his brother for there accomplishments. They built an empire for sure, and are hated by the left for their conservative and Christian beliefs. RIP
Worked for Koch Industries for 4 years. Rules , laws and morals only matter to them is they think getting caught breaking them will cost them more than what they can make breaking them. But they made lots of money and are probably the smartest ran business I ever worked for when it comes to making money.
The guy donated a lot to charity. Way over a billion I believe.
The view from the side they show everyone can look different than what the side most people don't see looks like. With that said I never met the guy but I do know how some of those billions were made and the fact the he gave a little bit of it back doesn't change what I saw. And Finster I doubt you have seen both sides but I've been wrong before.
The Koch brothers and other wealthy donors were able to expand their influence on elections following the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision that paved the way for unbridled spending, both directly and indirectly, by outside groups.
“David Koch’s imprint on the American political scene will endure long into the future,” said Daniel Schulman, who wrote “Sons of Wichita: How the Koch Brothers Became America’s Most Powerful and Private Dynasty,” published in 2014. “The Kochs helped to give rise to the age of the mega-donor, an era of unprecedented political spending in which wealthy individuals, as well as corporations, can influence politics as never before. His political legacy is huge.”
Koch money incubated a generation of political figures, including Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt, Energy Secretary Rick Perry and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
He held very different views regarding abortion rights, immigration and gay rights issues than do the current right of center GOP, but he let that ride as he and his brother were able to get many business related policy issues that they favored into law and rule. They held very strong Libertarian political views and their very conservative government related polices are just that conservative policies. It is the right of center citizens that used their funds to make this a cultural and societal issue instead of good conservative policies that enhance business. It is absolutely amazing how a very few political extremists (ether way) with lots of funds can change the mainstream politics of a wealthy fairly well educated nation of 300 million but it happens and they were the last generation of champions doing just that.
