Was curious what it’s like trapping New Mexico? More so from a regulations view. Is it fairly lax or have they tightened the screws on everything? My grand scheme is to find a poor old rancher that needs some coyote control and I’ll help him out in exchange for a couple archery elk landowner tags. I know, I know, I’d have a better chance at finding Hillary’s emails but it’s worth a shot right? That’s usually exactly how it goes. Them ranchers will usually introduce you to their single daughters as well if your single. Mom will cook u meals at night and make u a hot cup of coffee in the am. They’re usually so greatful for us takin care of all their coyotes, cats, and elk; that they’ll invite you back next year for mule deer, antelop, and aoudad before they fill ur truck up with gas on their dime and send you on your way....

Bo NM has tax payer paid predator control. Both federal and local.
Antlers are BIG business. Even in MO as I am sure you are aware. Even if you just want a cow tag. Those guys will sit in the coffee shop telling everyone how much hay they lost last week but you will pay, a bunch, if you want to hunt on them.
Just buy a cow elk at one of the elk farms in MO. Better meat than a bull and no antlers so the price is reasonable. Lots cheaper than buying a tag and hunting on public in NM CO or WY. No chance you come home without groceries either.

bo just buy one out right. load it in a stock trailer or cut its throat in the squeeze chute or whatever. anyways the elk farm near me will do that. he will even sell you one he has already butchered and packaged. those elk are better than any wild ones I ever ate as they are eating corn instead of pinion nuts and acorns

p.s. elk blood squirted in a dirt hole works pretty good
