Anybody bid on traps and stuff from this auction (probably via on-line)?? I ended up bidding on 5 lots of multiple traps, not any of the collector type singles. The way they did it was a base pirce per trap so if your bid was $4 and the lot was 4, then the total price was $16. Buyer had to pay shipping through UPS and auction house charged $5 a box for handling & shipping materials. I had 5 different bids, mostly for yote sized traps. A guy could put in their max bid and then would keep track if you were outbid before the live auction started so could re-base your max bid. Of my 5 bids, I knew I had been outbid for one before this morning (did farmers' market this morning o not going to be watching auction). That was fine because it was for small mrat style jump traps. I didn't see any reserve price listed on these lots but maybe I didn't look close enough.

The results this afternoon appears that I got outbid on another lot (no problem, that's an auction) but the other 3 were "sold to the floor". I'm sort of po'd about it. If you're going to have a reserve, then state it and not waste people's time if they think the reserve is too high so they won't even bid. If you're going to have an auction to move "stuff", then let the market tell you what the price is, if you have a certain price you won't go below, then say it up front or sell it on ebay. A waste of time but then again, it might be my fault for not looking closer to the conditions...

Sounds like a fun auction. Wish I would have known about it sooner so I could have bid on some of the traps. Oh well, there will always be another auction with traps.

I was there too. Bought several lots of collector stuff. The Girard crew run a well organized auction. I have done this type auction from home, but never been to one like this live.

If you are there and carry the items out, they have a 6.5% sales tax in South Dakota for auction. If you have the items shipped, you pay the 10% mentioned, but no sales tax

Yes, it was in Wakonda. It was a nice 5 hour drive for me.

I was there and know Delmar & Rose since they only lived 20 miles away. Delmar is in a nursing home now, and Rose and their kids were at the auction. I kidded Rose and said, Are they going for more then what Delmar told you he bought them for? She laughed and said yes. I bought one trap that I wanted of his collection. Rose and the kids say,"Thank you to all that bid online and attended the last two days of auction."

DC: Great to see you there along with other old friends and some tman members. Your beautiful wife sure brightened the room. I made it home with my measly 27 lots and have spent the morning playing with my new additions.

Girard auction is probably the biggest collector toy and memorabilia auction in the business, the last time I talked to them they had a year and a half of toy collection, memorabilia and sign sales lined up. Their a first class auction check them out.
