Well we lost our little Shitzu we had for twelve years. I loved it even though it had no tricks or a skill of any kind. We put up with it being silent in the house for a couple months. I have always wanted a trapping companion that I could let ride along so I started looking into dogs. I wanted a dog who had spunk but would be good with our young toddler grandchildren. We drove up by Des Moines two weeks ago and picked these two up...….

The Black and white is a standard American Rat Terrier and the Pearl and white is a Teddy Roosevelt Terrier.

They love to fight each other and sometimes it gets pretty intense. Can't wait for the trapping season to get started. Had them in the boat yesterday but that was a challenge. LLL

My two favorites Larry, are rats and jrt. I' a bit partial to the jacks, but any off those little hole dogs, you need two....or more! Their heart outweighs their arse, and it takes more that one to make up for the lack of arse! My stupid little jack will pick a fight with the biggest dog or critter, they just don't know they only weigh fifeteen pounds! lol. Have fun with them!

rat terriers of any kind are my favorite dogs. Those two look like they will be great couch buddies.

Don't know what kind of trapping you do but I can assure you coyote love those dogs. Guess they taste like chicken or something. Not trying to be a wise guy. Just telling you I lost my wife's jack Russell to Coyote. Be careful, as full of life as they are they won't back down from a coyote and they won't win.... Good luck, cool looking dogs.

Wish I had more time to trap....

You're going to need more Mountain Dew to keep up with them two.

I grew up with a lot of my family having hole dogs, mostly JRT. We would help farmers out with rat problems and use a water pump in a nearby Creek and flood their holes under the chicken sheds with a few terriers cleaning them up as they ran out. Lots of fun, the most we ever got was 79 out of a 16x16 chicken shed.

Common sense prevails on my lines. Biggest thing these guys may face is a coon that has taken off with a trap. They will be ride along companions other than that. LLL

Do not let little toddlers put there face up to there noses. They do not like it for some reason. I had JRT, great dogs if they would just keep there hair on the body's. LOL

Had a jack russel beagle mix. He was probably the most loyal dog I’ve owned. Was fun to watch him kill snakes in the yard. He put a town fox right up a tree. First time I learned they can climb if they have to.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Shih Tzu. Yes, no special skills, tricks, or talent. They become just like the rest of the children in the house, no special skills, tricks, or talent. smile
We have a 14 year old one, but I wouldn't trade her for either of our sons, and we have two of the finest boys anyone could ask for. The Shih Tzu needs us more that's all.

Carl I still get triggered and he has been gone for two months. Here he was a week before he died. He jumped in my travel bag when I got home from a fishing trip. LLL [Linked Image]

My rat Terrier is absolutely fearless. Has gone after a bear, several coyotes or any animal coming around the house. The bear ran off and the coyote thankfully was by itself and opted to not fight. My Corky is only 16 pounds but all dynamite. Makes no matter anything from mice to bears and she thinks she can beat it. Great with the family and the best housedog ever. I had a similar rat Terries as a boy and that one was the same as this one. Very loyal and backs down from nothing.

I like any of the terriers. Im a JRT guy, and looking for a Parsons Jack with big parents in a broken coat. If anyone has any leads.

Would toy the idea of a Jackdale as well.
