I have ask several people and gotten different answers. I NEED to replace the trigger in my 700 BDL 270 that I deer hunt with . I only use it during the 2 weeks I deer hunt. Need some advice on what to put in it. Don't want the obvious answer which 99.9% say "get a timney. Ok I googled timney and 14 different triggers pop up. I ONLY USE IT TO HUNT WITH. I heard there was a new company just came out. I will add I want to spend as little as possible BUT WANT a good trigger. One that is easily changed.
Also where do I find them . Who has the best prices?

Timney 510, or timney elite hunter,or triggertech primary 130-150 bucks, takes about 5 mins to replace. Each of these will be significantly better than the x-mark pro in your 700.

What's wrong with the one that's in it? I think your not going to get many responses about after market triggers besides timney.

Remington triggers are adjustable down to hunting weights. Have your gunsmith set it at about 40 ounces and call it good.

Jewel makes some awesome triggers too but I personally would have a good smith work your Remington trigger. To achieve excellence you are going to have to spring for a hunting weight aftermarket lie Timney or jewel. I prefer a light crisp trigger with no creep. It can be done with a factory trigger depending on who does it and how it is done. I will say I have had good luck with Remington factory triggers but anything I build or mod has a Timney or Jewel.

Jewell is the queen of triggers in my book, but expensive. I have one on a Mod 70. I like the older Remington triggers very much. I have a half dozen that break crisply at just under 3 lbs. Never a problem for me.

I have a few Remington 700's. Everyone has a adjustable trigger. With a little adjustment you can have a 3.5-4 pound trigger with no travel and no creep. Mine are as good as anything you can buy.

I've had my BDL since the mid '70s with the factory trigger. Started to replace with a Timney but took it to a good gunsmith & he adjusted it to 2 1/2 #s(40 ounces).
It's been nice & crisp ever since with no creep at all. Improved my accuracy by about 80%.

The older 700s with the walker style triggers could be tuned and adjusted to be a nice trigger, the newer x mark pro triggers on the 700s are absolute garbage. Pretty much the worst factory trigger available today compared to savage accutrigger, tikka, ruger American...

I would not have a 2.5 pound trigger on a hunting rifle. If it can't pass the safety off and simulated drop test (hitting the butt against the carpeted floor) . The hammer usually drops below 3 pounds on the trigger.
Fine for at the range but not for a field gun. Adrenalin will give you the strength to handle another pound or two on a trigger when the 10 pt walks out.

WELL to tell you the truth I don't trust it . When I first bought it my son was hunting with it and closed the bolt and it fired !!!!!! He text me and I met him at the truck. WE unloaded it and I worked the bolt, clicked the safety off
didn't go off. Worked the bolt real fast and it would dry fire EVERY time!!!!. There are zero gunsmiths in my area. So I adjusted it to the pull was almost maxed out . The only way It wouldn't dry fire when the bolt was worked fast.
I hunted with it last year but the trigger pull is aweful. I was planning on sending it back until the multimillionaires filed bankruptcy so they wouldn't have to fix all the bad rifles.

Your engagement screw needs adjusted, not the pressure spring/screw.
The engagement screw is on the backside of the trigger assy.

Thanks hippie . I'll try that before I order another one. Just some rifles have been notorious for firing . Buddy of mine bought a 6 mm same time I did mine it would fire when he took the safety off. Had to put in a replacement trigger to fix it.

The two on the front adjust pressure and travel, the one on the rear adjusts how much the sear engages the firing pin.

close bolt and turn it in until it fires, then back it out half a turn or more and you should not have the problem your having.

how long ago did you buy it?

Remington should make that right but it would mean sending it in but 25 in shipping vs 130 or more in trigger if you have the time to send it to them.

for a kids hunting rifle I wouldn't go below 4 pounds of trigger pull

the reason for so many different timney trigger , flat faced , curved face , semi curved face , and in 1/2 pound to 2 1/2 pound or in 1 1/2 pound to 4 pound as well as with and without safety

if you don't adjust the engadgment screw like Hippie recomends or send the rifle back to Remington to be fixed

a youth hunting gun that your only hunt with really shouldn't need a Timney

I like a good trigger as much as the next guy but 4 pounds with gloved hands in cold weather woods walking is light enough for sub 200 yard shooting.

I have both Jewle and Timney triggers. I like both of them. Either one would work fine. I have had more Timney triggers.
