Was your gun on the RECALL list?
go their website and see

If a local 'smith won't adjust it put in a Rifle Basix or Timney, I have installed many dozens in my 'smithing days and it aint hard

CALL TIMNEY and talk to their techs to decide which one you need/want THEN go shopping

One thing I would add is after you get it the way you want it put a tiny drop of finger nail polish or cheep two part five minute epoxy, NOT THE GOOD STUFF, on the screws this will keep them from walking.

I can add to this, if your serial number shows the rifle was built pre-2000 or so then something has been tweaked out of adjustment from the factory. And/or WD-40 has been sprayed on it and it is gummed up not letting the sear move freely. Owners manual tells to NEVER use WD-40. THERE IS A REASON FOR THAT WARNING. All 700 fire controls were set on a comparator screen for sear engagement, no guess work. Take it to a competent gunsmith and have it cleaned and re-adjusted. As stated by many here already, the early 700 triggers can be adjusted to between 3-4lbs with no creep by a good gunsmith. No need to buy a new fire control.

P.S., adjustment screws are glued in place at the factory. If there is no glue on them someone got happy with a screw driver that didn't know what they were doing.
