Is it just me or has anybody else noticed that all the pictures of the Amazon burning seem to be grasslands that are labeled as rainforest in the picture heading

NASA has said there is less than average burning this year. Left wing NGOs and govts trying to cause issues with the new right wing govt in Brazil is the real cause of "alarm"

Some sections of the southern Amazon are in a seasonal wet, dry region which will give you a broken forested savanah type ecosystem and the more rain the more trees and the less rain the more grass.
Sure there is a lot of carbon being released by destroying the trees, but most of us forget about how much carbon is being released by the thawing tundra that has been holding carbon for eons.

I heard that the forest fires burning in Siberia this summer dwarfed what is burning in the Amazon.
The Amazon, being a jungle, will be overrun with greenery double thick after a fire in short order.

wonder if dinosaurs will come back after it warms up more? what if the doom predicters were right 50 years ago that were predicting an ice age? what if we have to illegally immigrate into mexico and down into colombia? aren't the effects worse in winter when all the plants are dead or dormant north of I20? how much air gets produced in winter by plants south of the equator? I don't think there is much arable land mass, is there ? south of the equator?

It's the Chi-Coms fault.

China has been encouraging Amazonian South American Countries

to grow more soybeans to make up for the shortfall of U.S. soybean imports

caused by the "trade war" tariffs.

I ran the numbers once I heard the same non-sense when I was in high school over 25 years ago. It was a flat out lie. What they report as being burned off in hectares every year and then comparing the overall land mass - they must have replanted and burned the same forests over and over again......
Last I knew Brazil was already the leading soybean producer......

The BS in all of this is astounding! All in who you listen to. I've seen articles that declare grasslands produce more O2 than the rain forests. Seen articles that claim the cornfields of north america are better processorsof CO2 than rain forests, AND produce more O2. Everybody is an expert.....they googled it! What a bunch of foofaraw!

Years ago I heard that there is more timber in the Pacific Northwest and up through Canada to Alaska than there is in the rain forest of south America. Maybe we should send them farmer matches ? Ha ha

The media is creating a false news story to spread their liberal agenda again and to attack Brazil's new conservative government. They are lying when they say the rain forest is where most of the fires are. Clearly the fires are mostly in the grasslands.

Well that makes much more sense than a forest at 90%+ humidity burning for days

The problem is that the media knows most liberal voters will just believe them without ever checking for themselves, so they tell lie after lie to push their agendas.

Don't I know it! Can't deny I've been guilty of sheeping.

Far too easy these days to do so. Especially with all the distractions

All of the CO2 absorbed by forests/grassland on the entire planet is dwarfed by the amount of CO2 which is absorbed by plant life in the ocean. Same thing applies to the production of oxygen.
