It turned the tide of the war and was a huge deal as 10s of thousands of US soldiers were in troop carriers on their way to Adelaide Australia and my dad was one of them in the 32nd Red Arrow Division. First over, last back, 3.5 years overseas as a division. If the Japanese would have got past the fighters and war ships the troop carriers would have been sitting ducks. Bryce
