I'm possibly interested in a few different firearms listed on gunsinternational.com and gunbroker. Sent a few questions off to the sellers, and got nada for response.

In fact, I got more non-responses to my emailed questions than I got responses.

Why list your gun for sale, if you're not willing to field questions from prospective buyers?

No idea. I mean if you are going to sell something you should be willing to answer any and all questions about what you are selling, truthfully. I personally don't sell guns. I buy them though. In my early and mid twenties I did have to sell a few guns though when it was down to the nitty gritty on paying bills and putting food on the table.

Honestly if it's a new firearm what questions are you really needing answered. They have all info listed. do like everyone else does. Go to your local gun shop and find just what fits you and walk out an go straight to your online place and buy....

I'm not looking at new guns.

If I were, and wanted a wood stock, I'd still want to see and know more about which new gun they wanted to sell me.

I knew guy who would put his truck on Craigslist every once and a while just to gauge it's marketability; no intention of actually selling it.
I'll bet there are other just like him.

Armslist is good. buy face to face no need to involve anybody else. buyer beware. never send any money in the mail. face to face

Not so many used, interesting guns for sale up here.

I've mostly bought new guns locally.

I will never use Gunbroaker again. Caught a seller pulling a "no reserve" scam last week and the sight would not apply the stated rules. Just a warning James.

I have called and emailed a few on Armslist. One guy has listed a couple l have been interested in. They usually respond via text and will never meet up. I think they are trying to determine interest and value.

lots of reasons.

sometimes the answer is I just don't shoot it any more.

a lot of people getting older and failing health , some times selling for a friends widow , guys who have been doing gun shows for years.

and an awful lot of I knew I could sell it for 50 , 100 or more than I bought it for.

they should be willing to answer honest questions , but if they think it will sell fine without responding to your question , just won't.

you can get a lot of questions about every little thing and every minute you put into selling it it is cutting into you margins.

a lot of people who had FFL in the 80s and into the early 90s were told by the ATF they were too small and insignificant to keep their license just sell them as personal.

your a lawyer , you must bill by the minute , 1/4 hour or hour and understand time has value.

Why should I bother these would-be sellers with questions like, "How much would shipping be to Alaska?" and "Would you take $x?"

I have been quoted or paid anywhere from $60 to $150 shipping per rifle depending on where the seller is located and how he wants to ship it.

Sportsman Supply in Butler PA pulled the fast one using Gunbroaker. I kept copies of all the transactions and supplied them to Gunbroaker who turned a blind eye to it all. Never again with that crooked outfit.

Curious as well. I have had good dealings on Gunbroker in the past.

Synthetic stocks are all the same. You could well buy one sight unseen in a box and not miss anything. I've done so.

Wood stocks have their own individual character. I don't buy unless I can see it first.

But I have to admit the rifles I actually hunt with have synthetic stocks.

my favorite hunting rifle, an old 270 has a wood stock. was shooting a 243 earlier this year and at 200 yards the group was about the size of a dinner plate. had to refloat the barrel. think I will glass bed it. rifle was made in the 60's so its not really a surprise the wood changed a little. so I understand the appeal of artificial. I don't care I still prefer wood stocks
