Had to take our ole cat Mouse to the vet to be put to sleep yesterday. She was a rescue that my late mother got many years ago. I'm guessing she was around 17 or 18 years old. Mind was still sharp but the old body finally wore out, last couple of days she was having trouble getting around without help. Last few weeks have been a little tough after losing my dog last month.

Sorry to hear that, funny how attached we can get.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I am sorry for your losses. I recommend getting another cat and dog when you're ready. Pets truly enrich our lives.

I feel your pain!

A few years ago we lost Spooky the cat.

Jet black with glowing yellow eyes. Got him as a kitten from the shelter.

He was 18 yrs. old when he died.

Very sorry to hear that, illinideer. Been there too many times.

I hate cats, especially when one hangs out long enough for you to not want to kill it any more. Then the next thing you know, it gives you the impression that it isn't totally annoyed with your presence and starts to hang around with you somewhat. Then it shows up on the couch which you are sitting on. Then its on your lap and you realize that you should have shot it when you had the chance when you first saw it, before you became weak.
I'm not going to speak further about the ultimate end of a stupid cat which I should have shot years ago. I still maintain my dignity as a man to not admit getting attached to a stupid cat...

Had a cat that was the spitting image of yours. 2 time loser at the shelter. We adopted her and she was the best mouser we ever had! She would be gone for a month or 2 at a time then show up all brushed out and fat. She adopted another family LOL. Her name was Sam-I-Am.

I have always had cats, and it is the worst time after they are gone. I swear I will never get another one but one always seems to find me. I have a kind heart for the alley cats even and make sure they get something to eat during the winter. When they show up with their kittens I feed and tame the little monsters down so they can go live in a home.
Currently, I have four kittens looking for a home - 3 males one female. Named - Charlie, Alpha, Tango & Sierra.
If you lived closer you could come to take your pick.

Sorry to hear about your cat. We have one that's 18 yrs old and I'll really miss him when he goes. We have another that's about ten or so.
A friend who claims he hated cats was talked into letting his daughter have one. Next thing ya know he's building a scratching post, a carpet line box for it to sleep in and a few other things. His wife told me he thinks the cat should stay with them when the daughter moves out on her own.

It's a bummer, that's for sure. We just lost two of ours this summer. A kitten that was a really good little guy wound up with a disease that left him paralyzed. We only had him 2 months and had to put him down. 5 Weeks later, my wife's favorite cat was diagnosed with lymphoma and had a huge mass in it's belly. She had to put him down also. That was really tough on her. She's still very upset about it. It's amazing how attached you get to pets and how much they are missed.

Those are awesome names Jim, I'd take one if you were closer. Unless you have time to drop her off. grin

Dang sorry for losses. My aunty who lived nextdoor had a cat that lived well into the teens her and my uncle took it hard. Last cat I had I was in mid or high school. I had put icy hot on my leg from a sports injury the cat licked the icy hot while I was asleep found it in the yard after school.

Very sorry to hear this news, also regarding your dog.
Your cat looked just like my cat Blue, who was given the gift of eternal peace about 2 or 3 years ago now.

Cats are real neat, I've always considered myself a cat person even though I rescued about 8, 9 years ago or so a very very special dog who has stolen my heart forever.

But know that you did right, by giving your cat this last gift, and also know that she will live within your heart forever.

(((((hugs)))))
