That stinks about the pup, I can't imagine an Indian Pipe being toxic, people eat them. I guess there are lots of things we eat that are bad for canines. Ibuprofen comes to mind.

Indian pipe is ever so mildly toxic to people but some still eat it. Like you say, some things are fine for people and bad for dogs. Now that weed is legal in my state there has been a big increase in dog poisonings from "edibles".

So on Saturday my 5 month old Lab puppy ate a wild mushroom I saw her do it. Of course she wouldn't let me catch her til it was down and by time i got her to throw it up it was thirty mins later didn't think much about it after that, cause generally dogs don't eat stuff that'll kill themselves. She was fine the rest of the day terrorizing my wiemeriner. The next morning she was not so good and by 1030 we ran her to the emergency clinic and by 230 we had to put her down. It was rough too say the least then I had to tell my 6 year old that his dog died didn't make the weekend any easier. The mushroom is called Indian pipe which i guess is actually a plant but looks like a mushroom. So keep hydrogen peroxide handy. I am sorry to hear that news. I had to put my best friend down almost a year ago and still to this day think about him everyday. What is the hydrogen peroxide used for ?

Sorry to hear that you ended up losing your pup. Dogs have a habit of eating some pretty crazy things. I have a Shi-Tzu that hunts the yard for dead, rotted things. Eats them, comes in the house and pucks them up on the floor. Once he swallowed a feather and got it stuck in his throat. Was able to pull it out with a long needle-nose pliers.

"What's hydrogen peroxide for?"
Disclaimer-I am not a vet nor have ever done this.
Never had to do it to one of my dogs but...One evening we got a call from a buddy whose Lab had gotten into some rat poison. He had called a vet and was told to get a turkey baster and force some hydrogen peroxide down the dog's throat. Luckily we had both at hand. His dog puked up everything and was fine.
Moosetrot HP causes animals to puke contents up right away to reduce problems from what is ingested.

So how do you get the hydrogen peroxide in the dog?
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.
