I am looking for a gas powered water pump to take down to a river and fill a 55 gallon water barrels for washing dishes and making coffee. Any ideas. The river is about 20’ below the road.

Check out www.HarborFreight.comYou will need a self priming pump rated for over a 25 ft lift or suction, taking into account if the pump will be on the bank or in the truck.

About any 2" will do that if you can set the pump close to the water level. I fill a 425 gallon tank in the pick up with almost that much lift. It will push water way better than pull it. I think if I only needed 55 gallons, I would use two five gallon buckets.

MJM thanks I have two 55 gallon barrels and have used 5 gallon buckets but it kills my back . I have no fluid in my L5 lower disc. Can’t do buckets anymore.

Yep, trash pumps will do the job (2") with a 7 hp does that lift for me. I suction from a creek and work like a charm with about that same lift.
