Going on a guided elk hunting trip with my 18 year old boy in the first week of October in Heber city Utah. We need to buy some clothing. Hat should I get? I want good stuff but clueless. I assume Sitka is the way to go ?

Are you hunting the Wasatch unit? What tag did you get? It's going to be chilly up there in October. It will be below freezing at night but may warm up to mid 60's in the day. You'll need layered warm clothing early that you can shed as it warms up during the day. You'll obviously want good water proof boots and rain gear in case it gets soggy. Good luck to you. My son killed a 370" bull two years ago above Wallsburg which is in the Wasatch unit.

Kuiu is good but i myself cant justify the cost. Stkia costs even more and same quality . I wear layers and unless its wet end up with blue jeans and lond johns under at that time of year. I have wool pants for when there is snow or rain.

Just wear what you would at home that time of year in Mn. You will be way south but higher elevation

I have no idea what unit I’m hunting in

guide was nice but says 60’ in day, below freezing in morning, rain gear a good idea, so that doesn’t clear up much for me so kinda on my own to figure it out

Bring clothing for hunting in 30 degree weather, Also bring some rain gear. I have hunted the High Uinta in October and it's been shirtsleeves so just be prepared for some reasonable fluctuations
