A TON going on in my life, and more things to do that I have time for...Still, about this time every year I start to get really excited and start planning for the season ahead.

Anyone else stoked about this season? Goals? Anything you are gonna try or do different?

Yep! I'm neglecting other things that need doing because of it. My wife says, "Oh I see you're now in trapping season mode."

I'm excited as heck and have a few tricks up my sleeve for canines. As I go to bed each night I'm thinking of new set ideas. I think a few of these ideas may work

Our state trapper association convention just wrapped up this past weekend, so now I'm in the trapping mindset. I have some hunting to do before season opens, but I'm more excited about trapping, rats specifically. I've got a new to me jon boat to use this fall and I'm looking forward to seeing how that works compared to paddling my canoe.

My goal is to get at least 100 rats. I got close 2 years ago, then last year I only caught half as many. This year the landowner has already contacted me that he's seen 4 dead rats this summer, so my expectations are low, but hopefully the boat can get me into some new spots to hit 100.

Getting to be that time of year.

Temps are cooler. Here anyway.

Just sent off 2 orders for trapping supplies.

I'll have 1 more to send once I figured out what all I need.

Doing some trap mods this year so I have to decide what parts I want.

If work was as much fun as trapping I'd be showing up bright eyed and bushy tailed everyday instead of telling myself that I'm only doing this so I can keep setting steel and shooting lead.

Definitely. Plenty of water this year, so there should be decent rat and mink numbers

I haven't really trapped since my split up and divorce. I'm finally coming to grips with it after 4 years. This is the first time since that I've looked forward to trapping. Maybe I'm finally becoming myself again. Hope so.

I am.
For once, my knees are all healed up, and my lower back seems to be doing a whole lot better [*pinched nerves] and I am hoping to be able to get involved with out Bobcat Study, as my dream is to work with the State Wildlife Biologists as a trapping volunteer.
So, this may finally be the first year I get to set traps smile smile smile

I dyed traps yesterday just because they were rusted and neglected.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I spend my whole work days dreaming about season. I have a the first week of December off and would like to put a dent in the local fur population, mainly coon coyotes and cats.

Waxed a few 120's,worked on a couple jackpots on the close line, and doing some beaver boarding to empty the freezers of the beaver pelts to be sold through the nuisance beaver program for the council.

State meet was a few weeks ago and stocked up on goodies and information. Traps have all been cleaned and prepped, trailcams are out and have been talking to landowners. Just received my trapping supplies in the mail yesterday and may just have to place another order soon. New to me jon boat is ready to go and tweeking my tools to keep my mind occupied. Can't get here soon enough.....
