I'll start fur beavers on or about the 15th oct.

I think getting excited is a thing of the past for me.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I'm ready to get some revenge on some coons. They ate ALL of my peaches. I got 0 and the trees were loaded.

Traps are prepped , stakes are ready and I have bought mostly what I want or need.
Really is going to be a big question with how my July 24th hip replacement will work out by the end of October.
Several rat areas are drained, but several small sloughs are wet.
I will plan to do more coon this year along with canines as i can use the 4 wheeler more with my hip condition.
This year our 9-day deer gun season starts November 23rd. That is really late so there will be more time to try and run a decent multi species line for 2-3 weeks, which I did the first years I trapped here but have not done som much since. Not as efficient for sure but if one is not going to make money, one may as well do what you enjoy.
These days with heavy dews, upper 40s in the morning, that fall odor and sneezing from the Golden Rod lets me know the season is nearing and it is invigorating as well.

Still peeping my traps and scouting locations. This year already has promise but I don't what it promises. Lol. Montgomery fur company got a healthy deposit from me last Saturday. I still had to order a j hook tool online from them . now Im broke!

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

I'm envious, guys. If my ankle is in place, I may try for a few fox and marten off the road system. If I can face the idea of theft and sabotage again.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Hutchy not to be a party pooper but with marten at 20 dollars it is a little hard to get excited. Well at least when where was another ZERO in the equation it was much better. But who can remember back 4 years. Back then 100 rats was a nice mud motor purchase for the jon boat, sure glad I made the investment then and not now, cause it is costing 400 rats in todays standards.

Since the return on investment is usually calculated after the purchase you better get to work on those 400 rats. laugh

Actually got traps all dyed and waxed this summer, before it's always been about a day before I set them. Been testing lures all summer , so yes I'm ready to see something bouncing in the trap circle.

I am hoping to squeeze in a couple weekend lines on the bits of permission that I have left. All my trapping gear is in storage from the move and my mother in law is not going to allow fur handling at her house so not sure how I'm going to deal with that LOL.

My main concern this year is to get the kids out for a couple muskrat, at least one beaver and a coon or 2

Just happy to be here.

Ya, I can see how its tough when you know what the fur is actually worth..

Heck, I haven't been trapping for near as long as some of you, but even ten years ago when I started I remember an otter, fox, fisher or marten was almost guaranteed 75-100 bucks.

As such, combined with the fact that I have about two months of trips planned this winter, I am focusing on efficiency, and trapping hard for a shorter period of time, as opposed to letting a few traps sit and checking more.

Can't hardly wait taken the entire first month off to trap coyotes. Paid time off so nothing better than a paid vacation to go trapping best of luck this year guys and be safe.

They reduced the cat tag number to five here in Utah this year which is sad, but I sure am getting excited to get out making sets. I've had traps ready to go for a couple months, supplies all bought, bait all made. I'll be scouting off and on until the season opens in mid November. Hope cat/coyote prices stay good.
