I like this show and most of the characters on it. I read on the internet (for what it's worth) that Marty, the Alaskan trapper was leaving the show after 8 years. He still plans to continue his trapping, just doesn't want the company anymore.

Tom Oar, one of my favorite characters, is planning to move from Montana to Florida and retire. Can't imagine him retiring; he'll always be involved with something.

Never realized Eustace's buddy Preston, passed away. He seemed to be a real fine person; a good fit for the show. His shoes will be tough to fill.

I saw an article that Marty was retiring as a forest fire fighter. It said he was going to be hitting the trapline harder.

Tom and Marty will be missed on the show. They always portrayed Trappers in such a positive light. Some of the newer guys are a bit too far out for my tastes.

I can understand where Tom might want to retire from the show. I felt so sorry for the man. You could tell his knees were really painful whenever he did any amount of walking, especially in snow. I felt the same way about them showing trapping as a positive.

Got to like Tom and Marty. I never realized how educated Eustace is. He has several degrees.

Tom's brother Jack just recently moved to Tom's neck of the woods to be closer to him. Seems odd that Tom would now pack up and move.

If he did go to Florida, they could continue filming his adventures. Alligator Hide makes great leather.

Love the show. I wasn't crazy about Eustace the first season, but I even like his parts now-especially his old saw mill.

Unless something changed Tom leaving the show is a rumor that was floated a while back.

One of my favorite shows, far better than Dr. Pimple Popper.. My favorites are Marty and Tom. I don't go for useless Eustice, think he's a phony. Some of the newer people don't fill the bill at all. I miss the old guy, his truck, and his chasing lions out of the country. I suppose the show directors have a lot to do with what is real and what is not.

The wood powered truck did me in as far as Eustice is concerned. Can you run an internal combustion engine on burning wood fumes? Yes. Can you drive down the road very far while trying to do so? Absolutely not.
I nearly dismissed the entire show after that episode.

Last year on one of the showa Tom and his wife went on vacation to Florida to visit one of their children. The child encouraged them to retire and move to Florida. During the visit Tom and his wife made the comment they could never move to Florida. I suspec t this is where some folks get the idea he is retiring.

I can handle the new lion chaser better than the other. The yelling for “T-U-R-B-O !!!!!!” Was like nails on a chalk board to me.

My wife loves Dr. Pimple Popper. So, I read while she watches that show.

I never cared for that guy and his kid in New Mexico when he was on the show. There are a few others I'm not impressed with like Rich the lion chaser. Watched the other night where he got stuck in some water with that old truck of his. What's he driving around the mountains in a 2 wheel drive old truck for?

According to what I read on the internet (if that's worth anything), Tom hasn't been on this new season yet. There is speculation that in 2014 he visited Florida. At that time he and his wife toured possible retirement homes. But, he returned to the show. After the finale of this past season 7, Tom & Nancy headed to Florida for an unspecified amount of time. Though Tom never said he was retiring, he was heard to say he wasn't getting any younger.

Snippets of next season's shows do show Tom in them. So, the only person who knows for sure at this time, is Tom himself.

Tom has been in the entire new season and Marty took his daughter out on the line this year and told the camera guys he wanted it to just be him and her to spend some quality time together.
