I have been an NRA supporter for a few years but have never been real active in organization over the years. It seems that the NRA has changed in the last few years. Like I said I have not follow the organization that closely. Without take up three pages on a post, what has change with in the NRA in the last five years or so?

I don't think anything has changed with them since their inception, they have always stood for gun control. The diehards will try to point you elsewhere but as they say, the facts remain. Do your due diligence and you will see that the NRA is not now in the pro 2nd camp and has never been. They helped write the NFA in 34 and haven't stopped since. I only offer you facts, as I am a lover of our 2nd and Constitution.

I would like to know what happened with Ollie and Wayne.

There's a lot of crap going on within the leadership of the NRA, been happening for years and is just now starting to come to light. It's too much and I'm too tired to type it all out right now but it's bad. North was forced out and several board members had their committees taken away from them as punishment for trying to expose the bad, and quite possibly illegal, antics of LaPierre. Long story short; this could destroy the NRA from the inside out. LaPierre has to go. If he wanted to do what was best for the NRA he'd already be gone. But he's doing what's best for him.
I truly hope you Danny and you Catch don't get your wish that the NRA becomes unable to be an effective lobby because all gun-owners are in deep crap if that happens, whether you two believe it or not.
There is not another pro-gun organization anywhere near as powerful that could step up and take their place.
Eh...wot?

I think there are other organizations that are more purely pro 2A. I'm now only an NRA member because I need to maintain my membership to maintain my instructor certification. If the NRA represents me, I don't like that they're always too willing to compromise - on my behalf. I didn't realize until recently that they are one of those "non profits" that make a lot of profit for the organization's leadership with much of that profit hidden as perks that members don't know about, or didn't know about until the fight between Wayne and Ollie leaked the secrets.
They were the first to suggest a bump stock ban after the Las Vegas shootings. It was the NRA that first suggested the idea. I don't own or want a bump stock but an organization that exists to protect the 2A shouldn't be the ones to suggest a ban on anything.
They are the biggest pro-gun organization and they do more good than harm. But I don't like that they do even a little harm.

Send your money to GOA or SAF also. https://gunowners.org/https://www.saf.org/

I think the question was referring more to what Danny Clifton asked concerning their personnel like Ollie and Wayne. Actually, I would also like to know the real reason North left and about LaPierre’s life style. From the little I have read, Lapierre lives pretty hi on the hog. Got a nice place in TX. I can not confirm the article. JMO

I wish they took a harder line sometimes but I am not privy to the wheeling and dealing that goes on behind closed doors in DC, none of us are. I'd like to think that some of the compromises were made to ward off worse restrictions. I could very well be wrong. Until I know for sure I will continue to support them. I also support GOA and SAF.

There is not another pro-gun organization anywhere near as powerful that could step up and take their place. Lug, truth be told, I really like you, from here and realize that it's distant. I like the way you are with your kin, I really enjoy your post with the scrapple, your kids and grandbabies, I can tell you are a good person. With that said we are again going to have to disagree with the NRA. If they stayed out of the courts and just continued on with the Eddie eagle things, gun safety and such then I would be in there corner. But the solid truth is, they have compromised our rights away from the get go. It's hard and I know that, but it's all factually there, proven. At least now you admit that ole Wayne has to go. Will that stop them from helping the Gov to take our rights, I think not. I love our Nation and the 2nd is right up there, I whole heartedly believe if all the NRA members would join the GOA, we'd be better off. You can keep your NRA membership if you wish, but times have come down to needing real help. JMO.....

The way I see it, If one is in the business of making money out of a crisis, the las thing one wants is the crisis to go away. So they help chipping away at the gun rights and send begging letters needing more money to avert the crisis. Age old con. If and when they find out what they are supposed to do, I'll join again. Till then my money goes only to GOA
Let's go Brandon

Jim Might look at the Second Amendment Foundation. They are the ones who have done all the heavy lifting in the courts. Heller & MacDonald. NRA just joined the suits shortly before SCOTUS made their decisions. No junk mail every three days either ! They are the real deal I believe I recommended both of those organizations.
