This is my unpopular opinion. The price of gasoline at the pump is related to present and upcoming political events. Many components of our economy are dependent upon the oil business. The price of crude needs to go back to $80 barrel and remain stable. Natural gas needs to rise and remain stable as well.

This little storm over Bermuda is going to stop a few tankers getting into a few refineries, so expect that downward spiral is going to go in the opposite direction.
Now they have an excuse to raise it.......don't you get the feeling of a downward spiral of a helix meridian....like a woodscrew shape.

Still 2.69 in Central PA. Pennsylvania has the highest gas taxes in the nation. Would you believe 77.1 cents per gallon?

Baloney !! Crude oil dropped almost 3% today. THAT is the real issue .... in addition to reduced demand for petroleum world-wide. OPEC will cut production further in order to try to support the price.

Look for the drop in prices to continue.

I agree that higher oil prices may be preferable but not likely to happen given the amount of production world-wide and these stupid tariffs from Trump & China

Wide range here in WI while driving over the Labor Day weekend. Prices varied from $2.49 to $2.74 in a couple hundred miles. (Highest prices not in high tourist area) Around here about $2.52-$2.59.

My take is that with oil up on Aug 29 there was still someone willing to add 33,923 contracts and yesterday Sept 03 with prices down there was still someone willing to sell 20,318 contracts. So as long as someone is willing to buy at the top and someone is still willing to sell at the bottom they will still stay in a trading range until it breaks out, if it breaks out at the top where it is close to then if there is short covering and maybe a blowoff a couple days then the shorts will re enter, if the short covering doesn't happen and it breaks out on top side and the longs continue to add then it will be a strong market and may backoff to add some more longs. Until it breaks out on one side or the other its just a trading range.

There's a pretty wide range around here. I paid $2.53 today, which is on the low end of the spectrum

I see gas prices in the same city ranging from $2.32 to $2.69. Just for kicks, I opted for the $2.32 at Sam's.

We own a gas station. Typically stations only make a few cents on a dollar. Our price is 9 cents per gallon above what we pay. Half of that goes into filling the ATM machine. If we pay $2.70 cents per gallon to go into the tanks then we charge customers $2.79 per gallon. 5 cents of that goes towards filling the ATM. It takes a lot of gas sales to make any kind of profitt. Here in NY, we pay 4 different taxes on the gas just to get it into our tanks to sell.
