The aftermath of southeast SD's very wet spring. There would be a lot more water in those images right now after last week... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9IL3DPphmg

Roads closed in places some washed out with lots of 80-150 acre stock dams flooded all over the place. The strange thing is it had not rained in 5 days but the fields are running like it just rained hard last night still. Just a couple inches of rain is a lot now as it has no place to soak in so it all tries to run off.
Good news is lots of rat habitat is out there just need the rats to do their jobs.

I've been selling in my bedroom town's "farmers' market" this summer. Usually its a 3 mile run for me to the place, last Sat it was 18. But that's very minor compared to some folks.
The crops that did get in are looking pretty good. I haven't seen hardly any yellow corn for being too wet but I haven't been outside my area either. A lot of soybeans are just stating to turn yellow. The second half of August and the first 10 or so of Sept were cool so the corn is behind. I predict the deer harvest will be down so there should be more big bucks in 2020. Maybe time to peel out some extra cash and get a East River-wide buck only. I haven't knocked anything over since 2011 and think I've only taken a couple shots the years I did have a license. My nearly 40 year average of number of deer or antelope per year has certainly gone down over the past decade...
