Nbc news reported that gas would go up because of Saudi oil fires. Gas here went from 2.07 to 2.59 at the super America and shell stations yesterday around 4. The local Kroger stayed at 2.07. The Mayor called the store manager and told her she had to do something because of the traffic jam. So she raised them Why didn't he call the butt holes that raised it up and tell them to lower theirs ???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!

They may have received a load at the higher price while the other station was selling it at the price previously paid. But I suspect that was not the case.

I'm not sure how it works, however, when oil fluctuates $2 up then down 3 times in a week yet gas prices never move.

No I am friends with the gas pump attendant and he said the Mayor called because traffic was at a stand still in front of the Kroger gas pumps.

I'm sure different stations and different companies have different policies on when they adjust their prices some outfits change their prices when they make an order for more fuel and others probably change their prices on delivery

That's how it works around here. The station's around me don't change their price until they get another load.
Gouging is when they raise it while still selling gas they bought at an old, lower price.

I'm sure you are right in the fact some stations operate that way, mainly larger chain stations but the one-off mom and pop type stations normally operate the way ours do.

Where does a mayor or any other politician get the authority to tell anyone what to charge ?

I think if I were that station manager I would have lowered my price and told the mayor pound sand

Yes, that doesn't seem right, that's why they have Police to control Traffic.

I'll take market volatility over central planning.
