Here, you would simply be inviting tampering or theft. In my opinion, the coon can smell what's in those traps just fine from 20' (or maybe more) away and will go investigate if it appeals to his appetite regardless of what color the trap is.
That said, far more experienced people than me paint their DP's white so I am interested also to hear the opinions of others
Just happy to be here.

The cup thing Is Ok but I don't like the littering factor. I just fill my DPs right to the top with my bait and don't have any problems with vermin or weather.

Wrap them with a beer can and you will never have to worry about anyone taking them.

Considering painting my DP Coon cans white this year to make them more visible and attractive to coon. If you don't mind give me yall's opinions on this method. Good? Not worth it? Thanks! Painting them WHITE seems racist.

Well I'm glad I posted this. Like I said it was something I was just thinking about. I had my doubts and everyone's opinions pretty much reinforced my thoughts. Anyway, the beer can over some of those in the high visible bridge areas might not be a bad idea to discourage theft. Thanks everyone for all the good comments............................I guess in the name of ethnic diversity I could paint a few white and then a few black and then leave a few brown.........

1. White ones attract more possums, according to some folks. Sure seems too.
2. If you buy the Featherlite from PCS Outdoors you will have a trap that paint actually sticks too, and it doesn't rust. It's my favorite. I use them as they come, nice clean aluminum.

I painted quite a few of mine white. I also like to run my coon cuffs in a short section of white PVC with trap in end and pvc shoved into bank or just out in water at edge of creek. I also have some that are brown, some that are brass/shiny, and some that are pink. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
