Do you anticipate that we will still be able to buy parts for banned weapons? I can't remember how that worked under the 1994 ban and wasn't really into the black guns back then.

Obviously, the crazy buy back idea would be a different issue.

I believe during the 1994 ban you could still buy any given part, and you could install them on a gun (An AR flash suppressor, barrel with a bayonet lug, for example), but you couldn't buy a gun new that way.

The only impact the last ban had the last time was cosmetic useless requirements and the increase in the 'banned" magazines that were a buck a round on average and never ran out it seemed. Just a dog and pony show is all it was.

That's not exactly how I recall things after the '94 ban, Law Dog. I remember when I couldn't buy a magazine at any price, and there were stories of them going for $100.

Politics runs in cycles. We are now moving from a gun-rights to a gun-ban cycle.

We have to ride it out, keep fighting, even if the government bans "assault weapons" again. Because next time, we all know, they'll be after shotguns and hunting rifles.

Don't forget: Republicans voted for that ban too.

Lots of mag makers were stamping out the bodies before the ban so they qualified as "pre ban" Para Ordnance was another one that pumped out the bodies by the thousands before the deadline. I have never been short on 20s and 30's, the gun makers sold their guns with 10 round mags to be legal back then.

I have a few hundred USGI mags most are new, I hope the panic never hits but if it does I'll be the Huckleberry on them.
